Pinwheels for Peace - International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations in 1981 as a way to recognize a vision for world peace. The first International Peace Day was in September of 1982. World leaders can strive for peace among nations. We, in our small corner of the world, can work toward and demonstrate peace as well. Communities and schools all over the world will celebrate on Friday in order to lift up and spread this message with festivals, parades and Pinwheels for Peace installations. Pinwheels for Peace at St. Basil School were created in the art room by student artists who thought about, planned for and created images and designs that would communicate a belief in and desire for peace among all people.
